When a new roof is the right answer

A roof can usually be repaired for a long time. But when tiles are slipping or cracking all over, the felt underneath has perished, battens are rotten, or you're paying for repairs every winter, a full re-roof is often the better investment.

We'll always tell you honestly whether a repair will do. We only recommend a new roof when it genuinely needs one.

What a re-roof includes

Doing the roofline at the same time

With scaffolding already up for a re-roof, it's the cheapest moment to replace fascias, soffits and guttering too. Roofline is our speciality, so we can do the whole job as one project with one team.

What affects the price

The size and shape of the roof, the tiles you choose, how much timber repair is needed and the scaffolding required all affect the cost. We quote every roof individually, in writing, after looking at it properly. What's quoted is what you pay.

FAQ

New roofs: questions people ask

How do I know if I need a new roof or just a repair?

Signs that it's time for a new roof include widespread slipped or cracked tiles, sagging, perished felt and repeated leaks. We'll inspect it and give you an honest answer.

How long does a new roof take?

It depends on the size of the roof and the weather. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your quote and keep you updated as the work goes on.

Do I need to be at home while you work?

Not usually, as most of the work is outside. We'll agree access and keep you informed.

Can you replace the fascias and guttering at the same time?

Yes. It's the most cost-effective time to do it, while the scaffolding is up.

Do I need planning permission for a new roof?

Re-roofing with similar materials doesn't normally need planning permission. Listed buildings and conservation areas can be different, so check with your council if that applies to you.
